Introduction

In your previous lesson on matter, you learnt about cells. You learnt that cells are the basic unit of all living things. You also learnt about one of the seven life processes living things undergo.

In this topic, you will learn about one of the seven life processes. This is respiration. The ability to take in oxygen and give out carbon dioxide involves some process for this to happen. This process happens in a system called the respiratory system.
