How my community is ruled
Authority is the recognition accorded a person or a group of persons which grants them legitimacy to make decisions and direct the affairs of people. Every person in authority has power in order to handle any duty assigned him/her. Without power, they cannot go through their duties. For example: A chief for a particular traditional area has the authority to punish any person who goes against the laws of the land.
Now, power is the ability to influence and control the activities of people. Power is exercised to control the behaviour of an individual or group of people.
In every environment laws and authority is necessary for progress and good decision making

Power is the ability to direct and control the activities of people. Power gives the power holder the ability to punish those who fail to do what is required.
