Misconception about Ethnicity

Ethnicity usually tends to divide people. It makes some group of people think they are better than other ethnic groups. This eventually results in conflicts among people of different ethnic groups and affects the development of the nation negatively. People who are not qualified for some jobs are sometimes employed whiles competent people are not.

This practice affects national productivity because such people may not work well or have the needed knowledge and skills.

Some other misconceptions are:

i. People should not associate with people who do not belong to their ethnic group.

ii. People should not speak the language of a different ethnic group.

iii. People should look down on people from other ethnic groups and not respect their views.

iv. People should marry from only their ethnic group
