Features of Democratic Governance

There are some things that tell us that a type of governance is democratic governance.

These are some examples of these things or features:

i. The people usually participate in decision making. They make contributions to certain issues through their views or opinions.

ii. The people choose their own leaders to rule them by voting for them in an election process.

iii. In democratic governance, the leaders rule according to the constitution and other laws of the nation.

iv. The people are protected by the government. The government does not terrorize them when they express views that oppose that of the government.

v. The leaders are accountable to the people. The people were the ones who voted for them and gave them the political power.

NB: You will realize by now that, democratic practices promote good governance.
