Tesla Motors

Tesla Motors better known as Tesla to most people, is one of the pioneers in this new wave of Electric Car development. It is an auto car maker with their main focus being electric car development. Their CEO is entrepreneur and futurist Elon Musk.

The company was founded in 2003 and was named after Nikola Tesla. You can find notes on Nikola Tesla in our Important figures in Science & Innovation book.

Their first electric car was the Tesla Roadster which went on sale in 2008.

It was followed by the Tesla Model S which went on sale in 2012.

The Model X followed after that in 2015

The latest car from Tesla; the Model 3 was aimed at the mass market and is much cheaper than the first 3 cars.

Tesla Motors have set up electric car charging stations around the world. Placing them near hotels, resorts, stores and restaurants where car owners can relax whilst their cars are charging.
