Present Perfect for Regular Verbs

This tense is used when speaking about something that just ended or happened a short time before. To form this tense, we use the helping verb ‘have’ or ‘has’ with the past participle of the main verb.

For regular verbs, the past participle is formed by adding ‘ed’ to the end of the verb. To form the past participle of jump, we add ‘ed’ to make jumped. To form the present perfect tense of ‘move’ we use the helping verbs ‘has’ or ‘have’ + the past participle (moved) as in the sentence below.

Example;

  • Aba has moved the tables out of the way

This sentence tells us Aba moved the tables not too long ago.

  • I have washed all the dishes.

  • They have travelled to Kumasi.

  • Mr. Tetteh has asked them to wait.
