Energy Transformation
This is the change of energy from one level to another.
The law of conservation of energy states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, but can be transformed from one form to another. This means that, energy can be converted into other forms without it being lost.
Let's look at some examples
Example | Transformation of Energy |
---|---|
Public address system. | Electrical energy = sound energy |
Electric fan | Electrical energy=Kinetic energy |
Television set | Electrical energy=Light energy+ Sound energy +Heat energy |
Electric pressing iron | Electrical energy=Heat energy |
Dissolving calcium carbide in water. | Chemical energy=Heat energy |
Energy transformation in a torchlight that makes use of dry cells.
Chemical energy → Electric energy → Light energy → Heat energy
