First aid

First aid can never be left out when talking about hazards and safety measures. It is the immediate and temporal treatment given to an injured person before taken to the hospital.

First aid items are kept in a box referred to as first aid box or first aid kit.

There are some items which must be seen in a first aid box. Some of these items are:

• Gentian violet

• Bandage

• pair of scissors

• Cotton wool

• Iodine solution

• Hand gloves
  

• Safety pin

• Plaster

• Forceps

  Minor accidents at the laboratories may end up into severe accident when not treated. Examples of accidents which may happen are:

  Cuts

• Burns and scalds

• Electric shocks
