Anaerobic respiration

Oxygen is not required in this type of respiration.

The energy produced is in small amount, it results in fermentation due to the absence of oxygen. Glucose serves as the raw material, alcohol and carbon dioxide are produced as by-products and a very small amount of energy as the main product.

C6H12O6 → 2C2H5OH + 2CO2 + Energy
