Humidity

This is the amount of water vapour in the air.

Relative humidity is a measure of the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere. The instrument for measuring humidity is Hygrometer.

Humidity is affected by temperature. The higher the temperature, the lower the humidity and the lower the temperature, the higher the humidity.


The effect of humidity on agriculture

  1. This has serious influence on foodstuffs. Some foodstuffs spoil faster in this condition but others do not

  2. High humidity reduces the evaporation rate of water from animals and plants.

  3. Microorganisms and spread of diseases among plants and animals increase with an increase humidity.
