Egestion of Undigested Food
1. Egestion is the discharge of undigested food from the body through the anus.
2. During digestion, all the wanted parts (nutrients) of the food were absorbed.
3. The unwanted parts (stool) must also be brought out from the body.
4. The large intestine is made up of rectum, colon and caecum.
5. The rectum connects the colon to the anus.
6. The rectum receives the stool from the colon.
7. It holds the stool for some period of time.
8. The stool leaves the body through an opening at the end of the alimentary canal called the anus.
