Uses / Application of Technology

Some of the areas where technology has been applied to make life comfortable for man include

• Irrigation system (construction of dams and canals)

• Communication industry (computers, satellites, telephone, internet)

• Transportation industry (vehicles, trains, boats, ships, airplanes).

• Electronic industry (manufacture of computers, microchips and other telecommunications equipment such as satellites, telephone)

• Metallurgical industry (iron and steel)

• Food processing and preservation (bottling and canning, refrigeration and freezing)

• Agricultural sector

• Energy sector where electricity can now be generated from many sources such as wind, sun, water, garbage, etc.

• Oil industry where modern technology has made possible sophisticated equipment for location and drilling of crude oil both offshore and onshore.

• Medical field where serious research is always being carried out to understand and find cure for diseases like HIV/AIDS. Again equipment for health delivery has been modernized to be able to treat patients in a more comfortable way.

• Construction and building industry where infrastructure such as roads, offices, markets, schools, hospitals etc. are designed and built in a more tactful way to make the country develop.
