Reading and Writing Numerals

Now we will look at reading and writing numerals. We will use an abacus which is used to represent and count numbers.

The number 436 can be read as “Four hundred and thirty- six”

The number 6,782 can be read as “Six thousand seven hundred and eighty-two.

• The abacus shows 5 Thousands 3 hundreds 6 tens 2 ones.
• We write it as 5362
• We say it as Five thousand, three hundred and sixty-two.
