Robots and Robotics

I’m sure growing up you might have watched cartoons and movies that had all sort of robots in them with those robotic voices and they moved a certain way. Movies and cartoons like Iron Man, Transformers, Star Wars, Robot boy, Robocop, Frankenstein etc had some of the most interesting robots. Some of you might have been lucky to have toy robots at home too.

The term Robot was first used in 1920 in a play by Czech writer Karel Capek.

Robots are machines which have been computer programmed to perform certain functions.

When we mention robots, what is the first thing to come to mind? Robots that come in human form right? With a head, arms and legs

But not all robots take this form. Robots are designed and built to match the different functions they perform, so it would be very hard to see a human robot assembling a big truck in a factory.
