Types of Robot

As we mentioned earlier robots perform different tasks and functions so you will find a lot of them in different fields. Let us take a look at some of them;

Industrial Robots

These have got to be the most popular types of robots in the world today. These robots are found in many industrial factories on production lines. When they are working, they are a sight to behold. They work uniformly and very efficiently without too much supervision. Some functions or tasks they perform are; painting, welding, packaging etc. You can find industrial robots in Car production factories, packaging factories etc.

Medical Robots

These are robots that may be used in medical institutions. The most common robots are surgical robots. These types of robots are used as alternatives to perform surgeries where human presence is physically impossible.

Military Robots

These robots are used in the military. Some of their functions are disposing and detonating of bombs. There are robot drones that survey enemy territories and bomb them if necessary.

Domestic Robots

These robots are used to clean households and perform household chores. These robots sweep, clean swimming pools, vacuum carpets etc.

Competition Robots

There are robots created for competitions, these competitions usually involve participants building robots to perform specific tasks. The Robot that can best complete those tasks efficiently and within a specific period of time wins. In 2016 students from Prempeh College in Ghana won the Toyota Innovation Award at the Robofest World Championship in Michigan, USA.
