Seasons

These are periods in a year which are characterized by their surrounding temperatures, weather conditions and lengths of day. Most countries are divided into four seasons; spring, summer, autumn and winter. Here in Africa however the seasons are generally different.

In Ghana we have 2 major season namely; Dry season and Wet season.

The Dry season has little or no rainfall at all whilst the Wet season is known for its high amount of rainfall which can sometimes be harmful.

Ghana relies heavily on agriculture so these seasons are important to farmers to prepare for the crops they plan to grow. Most farmers do not have access to irrigation facilities so they rely on rainfall during the wet season.

The Wet season occurs at different times in the Northern and southern parts of Ghana.

In the north the wet season occurs from April to September. In the south it runs from March to July and occurs again from September to October.
