Present Perfect Tense for irregular verbs

To form the present perfect tense for irregular verbs we still use has/ have + the past participle form of the verb.

For irregular verbs, there are no fixed rules about how to form the past participle.

Some irregular verbs form the past participle by adding ‘en’ to the end of the verb example forget becomes forgotten.

Other irregular verbs change spelling in the past participle example catch becomes caught. Some irregular verbs maintain their base form in the past participle example read stays read in the past participle.
