Carbon filters are one of the oldest and cheapest methods used in removing impurities from water. They can remove organic compounds like insecticides from water as well as chemicals like chlorine.

Ceramic Filters

Ceramic filters can be found is some homes. Water is passed through the fine pores in the ceramic material and removes impurities like dirt, parasites and rust.
