The National Flag
The nakedness of Ghana is covered by the national flag. It is hoisted at every national gathering including Ghana schools, republic days and independence days as well as at special places like Ghanaian embassies and high commissions throughout the world.
The national flag is identified with horizontal strips of Red, Yellow and Green with a Black Star in the middle of the Yellow.
Here, the Red stands for the blood and toil of our fathers who fought for our independence.
The Yellow stands for the mineral resources of Ghana i.e. Gold, Diamond etc.
The Green represents the vegetation resources of Ghana. For example; cocoa, timber, coffee etc.
The Black star helps Ghanaians to stand up for the hope of Africa. The emergence of Africa on the World’s stage.
The national flag was designed by Mrs Theodosia Oko. Before independence, Ghana, then Gold Coast used the national flag of Great Britain which was called the “Union Jack” the pride of a nation is the National Flag. Below is the Ghana national flag
