Gender is a term that describes a set of roles given to people because they are males or females.

Stereotypes are beliefs that have no factual bases, but believe them to be true. Examples are that females are seen to be weak and too emotional and males need to be educated and not females.

There are customs in the community which go against females’ well-being. Some of these customs are Female Genital Mutilation, and widowhood rites.

Gender equity or balance can be promoted through public education.
