Education is very valuable and very beneficial. Examples have been discussed below
To acquire knowledge, skills and development: In school, we learn on different fields. We learn calculations, how to read among other things. We gain knowledge from all these in order to acquire enough skills to handle some of our everyday activities such as counting money, learning etc. These things develop us for the future and make us better.
Good personality development: Character speaks a lot in our society. Parents pay much attention to the character of their children because the children’s character mostly reflects the character of the parents. In school, children also learn some characteristics from their friends, parents etc. Children are taught how to comport themselves in the society. They learn to be gentle, obedient and honest in the society. Some parents even report their children to their teachers in school when they misbehave at home. All this develops the child’s personality, in a positive way.
Logical thinking: A grade five (5) student should be able to think faster than a grade one (1) student. This is due to the educational levels he has been through. Knowledge is acquired gradually, the more you learn, the more you know and also “he who does not know can know from learning”. The grade five student has learnt more than the grade one student. Education always develops the mind to think logically especially solving some problems we face in life every day.
Understand some happenings in life: Education brings factual explanations to life happenings. For example, superstition delays or prevents development. Superstition has led to the death of a lot of people and hatred among others. It was said that when you bath and you talk, your mother will die but education has made us understand the actual reason behind it. Bathing and talking is dangerous because soap lather can enter your mouth and this can cause stomach pains, but children were made to believe their mothers will die when they do that. Most children love their mothers and since they did not want their mothers to die they abstained from doing that. Some superstitious beliefs have led to some bad treatment given to the old people in our society. Some people blame the old people for their misfortunes. Education explains and makes us understand some of these happenings.
Helps us to identify and develop our potential: School helps us to really know ourselves. Our abilities are discovered and developed through schooling. Most students identify their future careers through schooling. Most students choose their careers based on the subjects they mostly get good grades or have genuine interest in. A student who performs well in science mostly wants to be a doctor, engineer, nurse etc. a student who does well in mathematics, also would like to work at the bank etc and a student who performs well in English would like to be a journalist, lawyer etc. Schooling mostly helps us make the right choices
Makes life comfortable: The world is a very big place but technology has made the world very small because we are able to interact with the world. Through schooling, we are able to acquire the knowledge used in operating technologies; we are also able to learn about other countries. We get more information from different countries without difficulties. Example is the education we get from the internet. Students are able to learn on their computers, laptops etc.
Sharpening attitudes: School is known for its discipline. Students are punished when they go wrong and this makes them avoid wrongs in order to be better persons. Through this, they learn to be punctual, tolerant, obedient and among others.
All these have made the world a better place to live. Imagine what the world would have become without schooling.
