Adolescent can contract STI (sexual transmitted infections) when they engage in unprotected sex. When this is not checked, the active population (youth-usually between 15-45 years) is affected
When the above mentioned challenge is not dealt with, productivity decreases significantly if people get sick, it means they can’t work
When adolescents drop out of school and do not find any work to do, they end up joining gangs and engage in crime and drug abuse
There is also increase in the cost of health care in cases of substance or drug abuse and treatment of STI
