Groups of Dinosaurs
Dinosaurs are divided into two main groups: Saurichians and Ornithischians. For any of you that know that Ornithology is the study of birds, you’ll be guessing that ornithischians had some sort of relation to birds, and you’ll be right.
Ornithischians were bird-hipped dinosaurs. Also, at this point, you probably know that ‘saur’ means lizard, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise to know that Saurischians were lizard-hipped dinosaurs. The ‘-ischian’ has to do with a bone called the ischium that is a part of the pelvis.
