Harmful effects of air pollution

Air pollution causes a lot of harm to both plants and animals. The pollution of air with carbon dioxide brings about the greenhouse effect.

This is due to the depletion of the ozone layer. The heat from the sun is trapped inside the earth by the gas. The heat on the earth becomes intense and this causes global warming.

When other gases such as Sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide dissolve in water vapour, it forms dilute acids. These acids fall as rains and are known as acidic rains.

The acidic rains affect soil nutrients when they fall on soils. They also speed up metal corrosion. Dust particles in the atmosphere cause smoke haze.
