Hazards

Hazards can happen to any person especially at our work places, homes and schools. They are things that Hazards are mostly related to bad safety precautions or carelessness. Casualties that happen in our work place are caused by working practices. Safety precautions must be practiced in order to avoid casualties. Students also experience such misfortunes. They experience that through their laboratory practical or school duties. Teachers are aware of safety measures and will advise students to avoid them.

Accidents at school laboratory

  • The use of poisonous gases without nose mask.

  • Touching faulty electrical equipment with wet hands.

  • Not cleaning water on the floor makes it slippery.

  • Lifting of hot objects from fire with bare hands.

  • Broken glassware on the floor.

  • Contacting corrosive substances such as acids.

Students must be taken through laboratory safety precautions before allowed use any science appliances in the laboratory. Examples are; Students must always put on long sleeves laboratory coats in chemical laboratory coats in chemical labs in order to prevent chemicals from touching their skin. Students should not be allowed to bring their bags into the labs and among others.

Hazards are dangerous because they can also result in severe injury or death.
