Reflection of light

This is the bouncing back of light when it strikes a smooth or ploished surface.

The normal is perpendicular to the smooth or polished surface.

The incident ray is the ray directed towards the surface or the ray hitting the surface.

The reflected ray is the ray directed outwards from the surface.

The angle between the incident ray and the normal is the angle of incidence.

The angle between the reflected ray and the normal is known as the angle of reflection.
