Protein Test
The test of protein is in two ways. They are through biuret test and millon’s test. We will talk about both tests.
i. BIURET TEST
Drops of 1% Copper sulphate solution is added to food solution and equal volume of Sodium hydroxide.
OBSERVATION
A purple or violet colour appears if protein is present.
CONCLUSION
The purple or violet colour indicates the presence of protein. ii.
Millon’s test Drops of millon’s solution is added to food substance and then heated.
OBSERVATION
A white precipitate is formed which turns deep-red on heating.
