Summary

Water is a chemical compound formed from hydrogen and oxygen. A molecule of water has two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. As it is with every other compound, water has its own properties and characteristics.

One known property of water is that, it is colourless. There are so many sources of water. Water is easily contaminated with impurities.

Water is also classified as hard or soft depending on the presence of certain dissolved ions such as magnesium and iron.

Hard water has more of these ions present in it whiles soft water has little or none of these ions present in it.

Hard water can be made soft by some processes such as boiling and deionization.
