Robotics

Robotics is the branch of technology that deals with the design, construction, operation and application of robots and computer systems for their control, sensory feedback and information processing.

Robotics has made huge strides in several fields, with some being;

Robotic sensing: robots can send and receive information. They can take measurements of certain areas/environments and use that information to identify if there has been any change and then adapt to those changes to perform their tasks.

Movement: There are robots that have wheels (usually 4) or tracks that help them move from one location to another.

Robotic and Prosthetic parts: Robotic arms and legs have been developed to cater for human beings that have missing body parts like legs and arms. Robotic or prosthetic arms are built to function like original body parts. They can grab things, lift them up and move quite easily. You will see a lot of these robotic parts on soldiers who lost arms or legs during wars.

Walking, Hopping and Snaking: there are robots that have been built to walk with 2 legs although they do not move as freely as humans do they still can move quite comfortably. There are a few that can also hop on one leg to stay upright. Lastly some robots have been designed like snakes and move along the floor in a similar manner to snakes. These robots can navigate certain locations humans or human robots cannot go to, like collapsed buildings and tight passage ways.
