Light is made up of many colours. This is seen when a white light passes through a thick glass. As the white light passes through the glass, it separates into various colours each having different speeds. The different speed of the various colours of light makes it possible for them to be dispersed.

The various colour combination of a white light are RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE, INDIGO and VIOLET (ROYGBIV).
