Relationship between Light and Materials
There are three classifications of materials depending on the level or amount of light that passes through them. These are
Opaque Materials:
These are materials that do not allow light to pass through them. Example; wood, metal, stone, roof, books, etc.
Transparent Materials:
These are materials that allow light to pass through them easily. Example; Clear glass, Clear water, Clear rubber and plastic.
Translucent Materials:
These are materials that allow light to pass through them but not easily. Such materials allow some percentage of light to pass through them. Example; Dark glass, unpolished glass or plastic, dark polythene, mud water.
