Future Tense (II)

The future simple tense is also used when asking or answering questions about things that will happen later. For now, we will look at how to form and answer yes/ no questions in the future simple tense.

To form the (positive) question, use Will + Subject + base form of the verb. Let us look at some examples below.

  • Will Kwesi bring me a book from the library?
  • Will you eat the last apple?
  • Will they read a book today?

Yes/no questions are answered in the future tense by using Positive answer: Yes + Subject Pronoun + will.

Example;

  • Will Kwesi bring me a book from the library?

    Yes, he will.


  • Will you eat the last apple?

    Yes, I will.


  • Will they read a book today?

    Yes, they will.



Negative answer: No + Subject Pronoun + will not (won’t)

Example;

  • Will Kwesi bring me a book from the library?

    No, he will not.

    No, he won’t.


  • Will you eat the last apple? No, I will not

    No, I won’t.


  • Will they read a book today?

    No, they will not.

    No, they won’t.
