Goals of Space Exploration

Space exploration has proved useful and the interest concerning this study has been increased and new discoveries have been made in the past decade. Here are some statements based on the goals of space exploration made by the former President of United State of America, George W. Bush on January 14, 2004.

“Goal and Objectives"

The fundamental goal of this vision is to advance U.S. scientific, security, and economic interests through a robust space exploration program. In support of this goal, the United States will:

  • Implement a sustained and affordable human and robotic program to explore the solar system and beyond;

  • Extend human presence across the solar system, starting with a human return to the Moon by the year 2020, in preparation for human exploration of Mars and other destinations;

  • Develop the innovative technologies, knowledge, and infrastructures both to explore and to support decisions about the destinations for human exploration

  • Promote international and commercial participation in exploration to further U.S. scientific, security, and economic interests.”

The above statements made by the former president clearly indicate that space exploration has really caught the attention of mankind and the world is ready to make investment into such a venture with high probability of it being profitable in the long run.

Such investment requires huge sums of funding before it can commence. This means the program is a long term one. This has led to investing into Spacecraft, Shuttles, Satellites and Telescopes around the globe especially in the European and Asian countries. The satellites are taken to space and fixed in different orbits around earth and carefully monitored to transit vital information to mankind.

Space exploration has been of a great help to mankind in various ways. Its impact on the globe cannot be measured because it clearly affects our day-to-day activities, some of which we will discuss into detail.
