Flowering Plants

These are vascular plants that contain seeds. They grow flowers which are the reproductive part of the plant.

Flowers have ovules which are present in the plant’s ovary. The scientific name for flowering plants is Angiosperms. These type of plants are found in most habitats worldwide whether in very cold conditions (towards the south and north poles) or dry conditions (desert).


There are over 250,000 species of flowering plants; these include species of shrubs, herbs and trees.

Flowering plants are further grouped into 2 main types namely; Monocotyledon and Dicotyledon
