Root Systems

There are 2 types of Root Systems. These are; Taproot system and Fibrous root system

Taproot system:

In this system the primary root develops into the main root and has a few lateral roots branching off of it. This type of root system is common among Dicotyledon plants.

Fibrous root system:

In this system the roots develop from the stem and grow downwards and outwards. Quite a large number of roots are grown. There is no main root like the taproot system because the main root dies when the plant is still young. This is a type of monocotyledon plant
