Uses of Plants

Humans and other animals are heavily dependent on plants in so many ways.

• We use plants as a direct source for food. We also feed animals or livestock with plants to fatten them up before we slaughter them.

• Plants are also grown for medical reasons. Example is aloe plant which is used as medicinal soap and creams which protect the skin. We also have herbs that can cure illness

• Plants provide animals with oxygen, they take in carbon dioxide and use it to perform photosynthesis and release oxygen as byproduct.

• Plants are also used for clothing. A good example is the cotton plant which is used to make so many clothing.

• Plants are used to decorate our homes, offices, schools, churches and gardens.

• Plants are used as building materials for putting up buildings and infrastructure. Timber logs etc

• Plants can be used to set up fires. Charcoal is made from burnt wood and it is in turned used in our homes with coal pots to cook. Lighting the charcoal provides fire.
