P-N junction

The term junction in basic electronics means the region where two types of semiconductor meet. P-N junction is the combination of P-type and N-type semiconductor together in a close contact .

The region at which they both meet is the P-N junction. P-type semiconductor has more positive charges called holes than negative charges (holes).

Both P and N type have relatively conductive properties but its junction or the junction between is non-conductive. This makes p-n junction used as diodes because its electrical current flow is in one direction but not opposite.
