Effects Of Colonization On Africa
Introduction of formal education and opening of schools like Mfantsipim school and Achimota school in 1876 and 1924 respectively
Provision of roads, ports, harbours, railways etc.
The Europeans brought with them cars, aeroplanes, Televisions and other technological tools that were never before seen in Africa
Barter trade was replaced by a common currency for goods and services exchange.
Increase in demand for foreign goods as locals preferred these options to their own goods thereby rendering theirs inferior
Locals became over dependent and reliant on their colonial masters and sought final approval from their masters on local issues
Reduction of our human resources through slavery as many locals were sold in slave trade
Due to this over-dependence issue, locals lacked the belief in themselves to create their own solutions to problems. They did not acquire necessary skills or the technical know-how to become useful to their nations.
