Experiment to Demonstrate Radiation

A Bunsen burner is set up and is lit. Hands are carefully drawn close to the hot flame of the burner.

Observation:

It was observed that the palm of the hands became hot.

Discussion:

The heat from the flame was transferred to the hands although the hands did not touch the flames.

Conclusion:

The heat from the hot flame was transferred to the hands by radiation.
