Adverbs of Degree

These adverbs show us the level at which an action happens. They can also tell us the strength of an adjective or another adverb. They usually come before the verb, adjective or adverb they are describing. They answer the question ‘to what extent?’

The word absolutely is the adverb in this sentence. It tells us ‘how much’ the speaker hates chocolate cake.
