Benefits of Belonging to Good Peer Groups
Peer groups can influence the life an individual positively or negatively. Peer groups that have positive impact on the individual is known as good peer groups. Bad peer group has negative impact on the individual.
There are many benefits members of good peer groups enjoy, some of them are:
i. Developing good habits Good habits are behaviours we enjoy doing and are also accepted by the society. Members in this group develop positive habits such as learning, reading etc.
ii. Developing positive attitudes Members in this peer group develop positive and accepted attitudes. Individuals in this group are liked by the elderly people in society. They enjoy some benefits from the elderly people such as gifts. Some of these attitudes are respectfulness, honesty, humbleness, discipline, hardworking etc.
iii. Developing high aspirations Members of this peer group are visionaries and focused people. They always have high aspirations and they focus on achieving them. Most people in this group have great future careers like being a doctor, nurse, teacher, lawyer etc. They are always learning because of their high aspirations because they want to achieve them.
iv. Knowing yourself and your abilities Members of this group always encourage one another. They help in discovering individual’s abilities and how to work to achieve them. Some members discover their talents through this group and they are helped on developing them.
V. Staying focused in life Good peer groups are always focused on achieving their dreams because they have big ambitions. They are mostly found doing things related to their dreams. They work tirelessly to achieve them.
