Summary

Peer group is a group of people who are similar in age, sex, interest or habits. Peer groups can influence the individual positively or negatively. Peer groups have different characters such as adventurous, boisterous, inquisitive among others. There are two types of peer groups. They are good peer groups and bad peer groups.

Good peer groups bring positive impact into the life of the individual. There are some benefits we get from good peer groups. These are; developing good habits, developing positive attitudes, knowing yourself among others.

Bad peer groups have negative influence on the individual. Some of these are; drug use and abuse, engagement in pre-marital sex, robbery among others.

There are skills for managing peer pressure. Some of these are; having confidence in yourself, assessing situations based on dangers, thinking of consequences of the options available among others.
