Fish and Amphibians

Fishes were the first vertebrates to evolve and they lived on successfully for a long time. They became abundant and diversified with several species. Their diversity resulted in the emergence of the amphibians.


The amphibians lived in water but could also live on land as well. Amphibians also became abundant and diversified, giving rise to the first reptiles. After living successfully on the earth for some time, some reptiles acquired the ability to fly while others also acquired the ability to swim. One major group of reptiles that became dominant around this time was the dinosaur.
