Environmental Control Methods

This control method deals with our surrounding. It is the method of destroying the breeding and resting sites of mosquitoes. Dirty environments breed mosquitoes, clean environments do not.

Some of the measures include the following:

• Emptying and disposing tins, lorry tyres, plastic covers which can or have water in them.

• Drain gutters, pools, stagnant water regularly in order to prevent mosquitoes breeding in them.

• Weeding and clearing bushy areas

Advantages

• It is less expensive

• It does not pollute the environment since it is based on human effort

• It is not harmful

Disadvantages

• Weeding and clearing bushes destroys breeding sites and not mosquitoes

• A lot of energy is required for this control method.
