The Skin

This is the sense organ used to touch or feel. The skin is the largest sense organ and covers the whole body. Human beings only have the skin as their protective feature. This distinguishes them from other mammals that have hair/fur.

The skin has two layers, the top layer is the epidermis and the bottom layer is the dermis.

It has receptors that interpret how something feels when it comes into contact with it; this helps us feel if something is hot, cold, dry or wet.

It also helps us feel if something is pleasant or painful.
