Self pollination

This is the transfer of pollen grains from the anther to the stigma of the same flower. Examples of plants that self pollinate are maize, coconut etc.

Cross pollination

This is the transfer of pollen grains from the anther of a flower to the stigma of another flower on the same plant or to the stigma of a flower on another plant of the same kind. Examples of cross pollinated plants sunflower, pawpaw etc.
