Measuring temperature

Temperature of a body is the hotness and coldness of that particular body. Thermometer is the instrument used to measure the temperature of a body. It is measured in degree Celsius (°C), Kelvin or degree Fahrenheit (°F).


Activity 1

Measuring temperature using the thermometer

Aim: using the thermometer to measure the temperature of a body and of warm water

Materials: digital thermometer, laboratory thermometer, warm water

Method:

  • use the digital thermometer to measure the temperature of two people

  • Compare the two temperatures using the standard temperature of a body of 37°C

  • Record your observations



Activity 2:

  • using a laboratory, drop it in a warm water to determine the temperature of the water

  • Record your observations
