Volume of liquids
Liquids do not have a definite shape; this makes it difficult to use formula to find their volumes. Liquids take shape the shape of their containers; this makes it easy to take their volume measurement with the measuring cylinder. Measuring cylinder is a tall cylindrical glass jar which is marked along its length. The volume is recorded when the liquid is poured into the measuring cylinder, the level of the liquid is recorded from the measuring cylinder. Other instruments used for measuring volume are: conical flask, burette, syringe, graduated beaker, pipette and measuring cylinder.

How to take liquid measurements with measuring instruments
Liquids are poured into measuring instruments such as measuring cylinder.
The level of the liquid is recorded from the reading on the measuring cylinder.
Read the volume of the by using the meniscus of the liquid. Meniscus is the lowest curve of the surface of the liquid
The lowest curve of the surface of the liquid is recorded as the volume of the liquid.
