Migration Route of The Ewe

The Ewes are believed to have migrated from Ketu, a town in the south eastern part of present day Benin in the 16th century.

Later they moved from Tado to Notsie. At Notsie, where wicked king Agorkoli treated the people very badly till they moved to Ghana in three groups

  1. The first group led by Amega Wenya settled around Keta Laggon
  2. The second group settled round Ho
  3. The last group settled at Kpando


The present traditional home of the Ewe is Anloga and Keta. They practice the patrilineal system of inheritance
