I. High heeled shoes have a small area. This results in very high pressure under the heel. But if the heels are wide, the area is large therefore the pressure is low.
II. It is easier to hammer a sharp-pointed peg into something than a blunt peg. The pointed peg has a very small area, so the pressure applied is very high. This forces the peg into the wall.A square peg has a larger surface area which makes it even more difficult to penetrate a wall.
